2024-2025 FULBRIGHT VISITING SCHOLAR PROGRAM
2024-2025 Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program The submission deadline for the online application is November 8, 2023, at 18:00 (local Georgian time) The U.S. Embassy in Tbilisi is pleased to announce the annual Fulbright competition for Georgian scholars for the 2024-2025 academic year. The Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program is a non-degree, post-doctoral award program for junior and senior researchers, university lecturers and experts from academic institutions in Georgia who wish to conduct post-doctoral research, lecture, or pursue combined lecturing and research in the United States. The length of the program is three to six months. The Fulbright Scholarship is one of the most exclusive and important scholarships offered by the U.S. Government to Georgian academics. The recruitment of candidates for the Fulbright Visiting Scholars Program is based on an open competition by the Public Affairs Section of U.S. Embassy Tbilisi. All candidates must currently be affiliated with one of the academic or research institutions in Georgia. Special preference will be given to candidates who have the capacity and commitment to take full advantage of a program of research or lecturing at a U.S. institution, and who are willing to share their experience and knowledge after returning to Georgia. The Fulbright experience should be of value not only to the scholar but also to the scholar’s home institution, as well as to the host U.S. institution. Fulbright scholars serve as cultural ambassadors and should be prepared to speak about their country, culture, and research to academic and community groups. The Fulbright Program was established in 1946 and is named after former Senator J. William Fulbright of Arkansas. Under the Fulbright Program, thousands of scholars have established professional contacts in their field and made long-lasting friendships with colleagues in the United States; have developed collaborative research relationships with U.S. scholars and have enhanced their scholarly publications and made other contributions through research conducted in the United States.
